About Us
Welcome to the Manitoba Métis Federation’s Provincial Education Department
The Manitoba Métis Federation – National Government of the Red River Métis and the Government of Canada signed the Canada-Métis Nation Accord, through which the MMF is investing $90 million over ten years in support of Red River Métis post-secondary education. We are striving to close the post-secondary education attainment gaps between Red River Métis students and non-Indigenous Canadians through the delivery of a wide range of supports. These multi-layer supports contribute to the education, social, and economic success of Red River Métis students and to the broader outcomes of self-government and self-determination.
The MMF’s Post-Secondary Education Support Program aims to improve the education of students from the Red River Métis community by providing them with funding to access educational opportunities at the post-secondary level. Eligible post-secondary levels include:
- Undergraduate degrees
- Masters and Doctoral degrees
The maximum amount payable per full-time student cannot exceed $5,000.
Through the Post-Secondary Education Support Program, the Manitoba Métis Federation (MMF) provides financial assistance to Red River Métis students who are enrolled in eligible post-secondary degree programs.
Through our Red River Métis Inclusion Coordinators, we also provide on-campus holistic supports at three universities.
